WHAT TO EXPECT

New to 3-Wheel motorcycle riding? No worries. The 3-wheel New Rider Course is your gateway to 3-wheeled freedom. It’s designed to give you the skills to ride with confidence, whether you’re a first-time rider or it’s your first time on three wheels. The 3-wheel New Rider Course is an entry-level, learn-to-ride 3-wheel motorcycle training and education course taught by MSF and Harley-Davidson Riding Academy Certified coaches.

When you take a 3-Wheel Basic Trike Course (3WBRC) here you’ll:

  • Get in-class and on-range instruction from Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and H-D® Certified Coaches
  • Learn how 3-wheel motorcycles differ from 2-wheel motorcycles
  • Learn how to safely accelerate, shift gears (if applicable), brake, turn, avoid hazards, and handle normal or unusual road conditions
  • Earn a MSF Basic 3-Wheel Basic Rider Course Completion Card which will exempt you from most of the licensing requirements for a special 3-Wheel vehicle endorsement for your Texas driver license
  • You will use your own 3-Wheel vehicle in this course. Proof of insurance is Required. 
  • There is no eCourse requirement for this course

3-WHEELED NEW RIDER COURSE FAQS

What will I need to register?

  • A street-ready 3-Wheel motorcycle. 
  • You will need a valid automobile driver license or learn permit
  • Proof of valid motorcycle insurance


Do I need any special gear?
You'll need to bring the following:

  • A heavy, long-sleeve shirt or jacket
  • Jeans, chaps, or leather pants (heavy denim or riding pants recommended)
  • Over-the-ankle, sturdy footwear (not canvas, low heel)
  • Full-fingered gloves
  • A helmet that meets DOT requirements
  • Eyewear (helmet visor, eyeglasses, sunglasses, goggles acceptable)
